Copper: The Urban Wedding Accent

Urban-style weddings are becoming more and more popular, especially in cities. Venues with exposed brick, concrete floors, and cool windows are everywhere. Copper is the perfect accent color/metal to accompany these urban weddings. Copper is a trendy, alternative option to the more mainstream metals like silver and gold. Copper is brassy, beautiful, and fresh. Copper looks perfect with deep greens, blues, and purples. However, copper does not compliment yellow or other bright colors.

You can incorporate copper into your wedding in many ways. Copper looks great in centerpieces and wrapped around bouquets and boutonnieres. It is even possible to have your invitations or programs printed onto copper plates! Copper can also enhance your wedding through the dinnerware. Copper plates and glasses are edgy and pretty.

Copper and wood are a really fun mix for an urban wedding. Because of the close hues in wood and copper, you wouldn’t think that these colors/textures would compliment each other. But, they look great together. The copper makes the wedding look more urban, while the wood adds an outdoors-y vibe.

Copper can even be added through your bridal jewelry, shoes, or through your bridesmaids dresses. There are numerous bridesmaids designers creating shimmery dresses in our favorite metal colors–gold, silver, and copper (or bronze). These gowns are sure to make a statement at any wedding and will be sure to “wow” all of your guests.

If you’re planning an urban wedding, keep copper in mind. It is a relatively new trend, especially in weddings, but it adds a uniqueness and creativeness to any wedding.
