As women, it’s in our nature to love a good deal. If we see a fashionable piece of clothing or a pair of cute shoes for a price that’s to die for, we feel like we have to have it. However, the best deal isn’t always the best idea.
There have been tons of stories in the news lately about dishonest Facebook ads. These Facebook ads advertise clothing at exceptionally low prices. Facebook users order these items, but what they receive isn’t even close to the original picture. This is because these counterfeit companies overseas are stealing pictures of the product from the authentic designer, and then creating a knock-off version of that product. Unfortunately, this has become a major problem with wedding gowns as well as regular clothing.
When what looks like a gorgeous and expensive wedding gown is sold online for an unbelievable price, it’s probably too good to be true. It’s impossible for a high-end wedding gown to be sold at a super low price. The materials and labor involved in creating a wedding gown make it so a gown can’t cost as little as what is advertised online. So, to be safe, avoid purchasing a gown online. You most likely will not receive what you think you’ll be receiving and you will have lost money.
Not only does purchasing knock-off wedding gowns lose money for you, it loses money for the authentic gown’s designer as well. Purchasing a gown from a counterfeit apparel company gives more money to that company, which, in the future, will continue to allow the counterfeit company to take money from the authentic designer. You may think that spending $100 on a wedding gown online wouldn’t make a big difference, whether the dress was what you expected or not. But, you are potentially stealing money from the actual company when you do this.
The saying to remember when shopping online is, “if it looks too good to be true, it is.” Quality wedding gowns cost a pretty penny. If you find your dream dress online, be sure to purchase it in-person from a bridal boutique.
