Our Sizing & Pricing Philosophy

At Savvy Bridal, we believe every bride deserves to feel confident, celebrated, and fully informed when searching for the dress. Shopping for a gown should be one of the most magical parts of wedding planning — but too often, sizing and pricing confusion can cloud that joy.

We’re here to clear the air, answer your questions, and help you feel empowered from your very first appointment.

The Truth About Bridal Sizing

One of the biggest surprises brides encounter? Bridal sizing doesn’t match everyday clothing sizes.

Street Size vs. Bridal Size

Most brides wear a bridal size 2–3 sizes larger than their regular street size. For example, if you’re usually a size 8, your bridal gown may be labeled a size 10, 12, or even 14.

Why the difference? Bridal sizing is based on old European standards that never evolved with modern clothing. This is the same across the entire bridal industry — it’s not unique to Savvy Bridal.

Savvy Tip: The number on the tag doesn’t define you. It’s just a tool for ordering your dress, not a reflection of your beauty.

Why Sizes Vary by Designer

Each bridal designer uses their own size chart. That means a size 12 from Essense of Australia might fit differently than a size 12 from Madi Lane.

That’s why, at your appointment, our stylists take your exact bust, waist, and hip measurements and compare them to the designer’s chart. We’ll recommend the size that gives you the best fit and the most flexibility for tailoring.

Trying On vs. Ordering

When you come in for your appointment, you’ll try on sample gowns — dresses stocked in the boutique to help you visualize the style, fabric, and silhouette. These rarely fit perfectly, and that’s okay. Your actual gown will be ordered in your size and then tailored to fit you like a glove.

At Savvy Bridal, we go further than most boutiques by carrying samples in a wide range of sizes — including 12, 14, 18, 22, 24 and 28 — with the ability to order up to size 34. This means more brides can see themselves in gowns that feel close to their body type.
