What Is a Trunk Show? The designer or representative comes with their entire collection and provides personal consultations. The concept derives from European aristocrats and how they used to private shop.  The Duchess would be presented by a couturier with the seasons latest creations, to be advised on the most flattering ball gown. The trunk show provides the bride with the opportunity to browse designs by their favorite designer. With the designer/representative on hand the brides are able to receive one on one attention. Brides are given recommendations on the best gowns from the collection to fit their figure. Custom changes may be offered as well as special pricing and incentives on orders placed on the same day.   “Trunk Show Season” The widest selection of designers to shop from will depend on the time of year. It is suggested that best time to shop in trunk shows are January-March.  Trunk shows are by appointment only. So choose swiftly because appointments fill up fast.   Always be sure to be courteous if you can’t keep your appointment to call and cancel.  With such high demand, someone would be more than grateful to have your time slot.

Keep your entourage small for this particular appointment. Make sure that you take no more than three people to provide an honest and helpful opinion.  Too many people equals too many opinions and that just becomes confusing.

“Will you say yes?”

It is important to make sure you do your research and plan for the possibility of purchasing your gown the same day. However, if you don’t find the ‘one’, don’t feel pressure to purchase the day of either.

Accessories are also available at the trunk show. Including but not limited to veils, head pieces, wedding jewelry and bridesmaids dresses.
